Averil Pierce embraced her career in counseling in 2008 with the establishment of ChatBus Trust, a non-profit organization that delivers counseling services to children under 14 years of age. She focuses her energy on preventing youth suicide and providing a safe place for children to speak freely. Averil is highly regarded for her knowledge, understanding, and skills in social services, community outreach, crisis intervention, mental health and public speaking. Furthermore, in 2012 her company was declared Winner in the Non Profit Section of the OBIZ Awards by the Otago Chamber of Commerce.
Despite acquiring a vast part of her expertise through professional experience, Averil Pierce also earned a Diploma of Teaching in ECE from the Dunedin College of Education, a Diploma in Counselling from Vision College, Christchurch, NZ and a Diploma of Child Protection from Child Matters, Hamilton, NZ.
