Babak Barcohana, MD, Represents California with Entry into Renowned Publication The Leading Physicians of the World

Board certified Orthopedic Surgeon Babak Barcohana, MD, is being honored for his passion and dedication by representing the Orthopedic Surgeons of California with inclusion into The Leading Physicians of the World.  Among his many years in practice, Dr. Barcohana has consistently prescribed a recipe for success for all of his patients.

Dr. Barcohana is board certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery.  A well versed doctor and noted expert in his field, Dr. Barcohana specializes in, and has clinical interest in innovative surgical techniques. He specialized in complex spinal surgery involving the cervical, thoracic, and lumbar spine; as well as, minimally invasive techniques, which allow for shorter recovery times, reduced postoperative pain, less muscle injury, and a more rapid return to normal activities of daily living.  Dr. Barcohana currently works at the Southern California Orthopedic Institute, and is affiliated with the Olympia Medical Center.  Dr. Barcohana is an active member of the American College of Surgeons and the North American Spine Society. He has been published in The Journal of Arthroplasty and Spine; as well as continually being involved with education and research in the field of orthopedics and spinal surgery.

Prior to Dr. Barcohana’s medical degree, he went to college earning honors with a Bachelor of Science degree in Neuroscience; with that background he then graduated from the University of California, San Francisco School of Medicine in 2000.  He completed his internship at the University of California, Los Angeles and his residency at the Stanford University School of Medicine. Dr. Barcohana also completed a Fellowship in Spinal Surgery at the Southern California Orthopedic Institute, where he was hired as staff.  Dr. Barcohana, during his time of residency, traveled to Nicaragua to provide surgical care to pediatric and adult patients with orthopedic disorders without access to medical care. His inspiring experiences throughout his education were the catalysts to the outstanding work he does in Van Nuys, California today.
