Beth R. Friedland, MD, Represents North Carolina with Entry into Renowned Publication The Leading Physicians of the World

Representing the ophthalmologists of North Carolina, Beth R. Friedland, MD, has been selected by the International Association of Healthcare Professionals (IAHCP) to represent her community in the publication of The Leading Physicians of the World.  In practice for nearly 30 years, Dr. Friedland represents the commitment, dedication, and passion for patient care needed to receive this esteemed honor.

Located in Durham, North Carolina, Dr. Friedland maintains a practice, Park Ophthalmology, with her partner, Melissa B. Daluvoy, MD. Within her practice, Dr. Friedland offers quality eye care including advanced technologies like LipiFlow Thermal Pulsation; a procedure designed to help glands resume their natural production of oily, protective lipids that prevent your tears from evaporating too quickly. Dr. Friedland’s expertise and specific clinical interests in ocular health include ocular gerontology, pediatric ophthalmology, occupational eye safety, and laser eye safety. A Board Certified Diplomate of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, Dr. Friedland has traveled the globe lecturing on ocular health in China, Israel, Europe and the United States. Active in medicine, she is also a clinical associate professor at the UNC-Chapel Hill School of Medicine and authored a chapter on Glaucoma Medications in The Textbook of Ocular Pharmacology. She also consults on new drug clinical trials and ocular medical device development with specialized skill in treating dry eye conditions. Being a physician of distinction, Dr. Friedland was recently awarded the Business Leader Women Extraordinaire Award, as well as, the Businesswoman of the Year Award.

Dr. Friedland, born in Florida, attended the University of Florida attaining her medical degree in 1979. She then continued her education at Duke University, a private research university, to complete an internship; in addition to attending the Bascom Palmer Eye Institute for an Opthalmology residency training program. Dr. Friedland also completed fellowships sponsored by the Florida Lions Eye Bank, in ocular immunology, at Harvard University, and a National Eye Institute post doctoral fellowship studying glaucoma medications at the University of Florida under Dr. Thomas Maren.
