Prior to her current professional ventures, Cheryl spent over fifteen years as a writer and broadcaster with CBC Radio, where she established herself as a pioneer in her field, building a reputation as a nationally syndicated consumer commentator. She also earned the recognition of being CBC Radio's first environment commentator, sharing concerns about the future of the planet and environmental sustainability.

Although she has gathered a substantial amount of her expertise through her personal research and voluminous professional experience, Cheryl is also an extensively educated individual who earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science and Sociology from the University of Alberta. Further demonstrating her professional proficiency, Cheryl was the recipient of an award from the Alberta Chamber of Resources for Excellence in Journalism.
