Damian Walsh is a distinguished counselor, psychotherapist, pastoral care worker, and educator. He joined the ranks of entrepreneurs in 2013 with the launch of Damian Walsh Counseling and Consulting, a company specializing in management and team workplace coaching, individual and group supervision as well as workshop and group facilitation.
Over the course of his career, Damian performed in various teaching roles in the education industry for nearly 17 years. He then continued to build over ten years of experience in delivering pastoral support and counseling to families and individuals infected or affected by HIV/AIDS. Damian has been a presenter for national and international counseling conferences and a lecturer for the Australian Institute of Professional Counselors. Moreover, he was offered a Churchill fellowship that allowed him to travel to East Africa, the US, and UK to investigate emotional, spiritual and psychological care while supporting those living with HIV and their care givers.
Despite acquiring a vast part of his extensive expertise through professional experience, Damian Walsh also built a solid academic foundation that includes his Master’s Degree in Counseling from Edith Cowan University, Bachelor’s Degree of Education from La Trobe University, Diploma in Teaching from Australian Catholic University, and Certification in Addiction Counseling from Curtin University of Technology.
Furthermore, Damian is affiliated with several groups and societies reflecting his personal and professional interests including the Australian Counseling Association, Australian Men’s Health Forum, Marriage and Relationship Educators Association of Australia, Professional Counselors Association of Western Australia, Social Justice of the Catholic Diocese, and the Churchill Fellows Association of WA, where he received a fellowship in 2000. Damian also serves as one of the four NGO representatives on the WA Drug and Alcohol Office Practice Steering Group. Recently, Damian was appointed as the Western Australian State Convener for the Research Fund Committee of the ARACY (Australian Research Alliance for Children and Youth), a national organization.
