Also in recent years, she served as Director of Communication and Culture, Executive Director for the Office of the General Manager Systems, and Commercial Director of the Guided Weapons Acquisition Branch with the Defence Material Organization.

On top of the substantial amount of knowledge she has gained through her vast professional experience, Deborah is an extensively educated individual who earned a Graduate Certificate In Public Sector Leadership from Griffith University and an Executive Master of Business Administration in Complex Project Management from the Queensland University of Technology. She is also a graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors through which she studied Corporate Governance. Further demonstrating her professional proficiency, Deborah was the recipient of an Australia Day Medallion in 1992.
