Throughout his phenomenal professional career, Kee Boon Kok has consistently demonstrated the passion, vision, dedication and diligence necessary to be considered among the elite as well as to experience a tremendous amount of success in the performing arts arena.
Employing his extensive experience and expertise in the field as well as his outstanding leadership abilities, Kee Boon currently serves as Director of Showtime Asia, which is a company that specializes in the provision of a comprehensive selection of exceptional entertainment options for special events, including stage shows, tribute acts, novelty acts, and cover bands of varying styles, budgets and sizes. On top of their entertainment options, the company offers a wide range of production services, such as stage design, event management, audio production, lighting production, costume rental, concert tours, and arts education.
Kee Boon commenced his career in the field by giving piano lessons and organizing his own piano recital in Taiping and Ipoh cities. He expanded his own reach by organizing concerts, operas, choral works, theatre shows and cultural events from then on, forming his first private limited company in 1994 and starting a music school as early as 1986. Kee Boon’s latest passion has been creating a Peranakan Cultural Centre in Malacca, which he managed to revive into a tourist icon show where visitors are amazed and fascinated by the lavish costumes, props, music, antiques and ceremony. Recently, Kee Boon formed a new company, the Little Nyonya Heritage, which will serve as a production house for cultural shows, restaurants and schools for the arts of the Peranakan.
In addition to running Showtime Asia, Kee Boon serves on the Executive Board for the Federation for Asian Cultural Promotion (FACP), which is a nonprofit organization that is committed to the promotion of networks for performing arts managers in the region as well as spreading a global understanding of the Asian cultural heritage. Kee Boon is also the Organizing Chairman for the 27th FACP Annual Conference in Kuala Lumpur.
Although he has gathered a considerable amount of his expertise through his personal studies and vast professional experience, Kee Boon is also an extensively educated individual and incredibly talented pianist who earned a Bachelor of Music degree from the New South Wales State Conservatorium of Music in Sydney, Australia. Further demonstrating his professional proficiency, Kee Boon was the recipient of the Outstanding Young Malaysian Award for Cultural Achievement and a winner of the Sydney Conservatorium Festival Piano Competition. He also received a grant by the South Australian government to see the production of Die Fledermaus by the Co-Opera in Canberra at the end of March, 2013.
