VANCOUVER, BC, CANADA, January 30, 2013 /Stanford Who’s Who/ -- An extraordinary entrepreneur and executive in the performing arts industry with well over three decades of diverse professional experience in the field, Maggie Bretton has enjoyed an enormously successful career filled with several significant accomplishments, leading to her inclusion in the exclusive network of prominent professionals with Stanford Who’s Who.
Throughout her phenomenal professional career, Maggie Bretton has consistently demonstrated the passion, vision, dedication and diligence necessary to be mentioned among the elite as well as to experience a tremendous amount of success in the entertainment arena.
Known as Vancouver’s "Queen of West Coast Swing," Maggie employs her 35 + years of dancing and teaching experience in both international and social style ballroom, Latin and Swing dancing as the Owner of Dance Town. She is an exceptional choreographer who draws a great deal of inspiration from the theatre arts, music, and dance. Maggie is involved in the coaching and mentoring of social dancers, driving them towards developing their skills to their maximum potential. Teaching classes of all sizes, she has taught as many as 1,500 dancers at once.
Over the course of her incredibly impressive career, Maggie has choreographed for numerous teams for Swing and Latin dances, including the BC Golden Spike Can Can group and the Hot Jazzers Charleston group. She has also worked on the Vancouver Beauty Pageant for two years as well as providing Judges assistance for the Surrey Arts Festival’s Jazz, Tap and Stage divisions. Additionally, Maggie served for five years as a teacher and instructor for the Social Dance Program at the University of British Columbia.
Further demonstrating her professional proficiency, Maggie was appointed as the first Canadian Judge for the prestigious US Open National Swing Dance Championships. She also served as a choreographer and partner to Ted Danson for the movie Cousins and Val Kilmer in the feature length film, Wings of Courage. In addition, Maggie was a Judge and Instructor for the Vancouver Salsa Congress in 2004.
On top of the substantial amount of expertise she has gathered through her personal studies and vast professional experience, Maggie also studied under some of the world’s best Jazz and Ballet instructors in Miami, New York, Brigham Young University, Los Angeles, San Francisco, and Vancouver, Canada.
