During his collegiate career, Michel earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Industrial Relations from McGill University and a Master of Business Administration degree from the joint program of McGill University and HEC Montreal. He is a member of the Quebec Association of Human Resource Professionals, Quebec MBA Association, and the Society for Human Resource Management.
