Tanya Huq Shahriar Joins the Ranks of Stanford Who’s Who

TORONTO, ONTARIO, CANADA, July 9, 2012 /Stanford Who’s Who/ -- Stanford Who’s Who proudly announces the addition of Tanya Shahriar to the premier ranks of individual professionals as a result of her work in the field of nonprofit organization management. As a Grants Officer at the Children’s Aid Foundation as well as throughout her entire career, Tanya has consistently demonstrated the diligence, determination and skills required to be considered among the best.

Tanya has devoted her entire career to children, women and men who living in extreme poverty conditions. Her international experience has remained focused on fundraising, project coordination, and communications. Tanya has been efficiently involved in projects dedicated to refugee settlement, child sponsorship, and reproductive health for women, men, and children living in some of the most vulnerable communities around the globe. Tanya has worked in South and South East Asia with internationally recognized societies such as ActionAid, International Organization for Migration (IOM), Marie Stopes Clinic Society, and freelanced for the World Bank Institute. Whenever she gets to enjoy free time, Tanya loves to cook, read, enjoy quality time with her family and learn about new cultures.

During her collegiate career, Tanya has earned a Master’s of Arts Degree in Social Anthropology from the reputed School of Oriental and African Studies at the University of London, United Kingdom. Throughout the past decade, Tanya has complemented her education by completing various courses related to subjects in international development such as project management, gender and development, communications in development, reproductive health and sexuality in training centers in various countries of the world such as the Netherlands, Denmark, South Africa, Thailand, India and Canada to name a few.

All of Tanya’s travelling has helped her to gain a wider perspective of international development and subsequently non-profit organization dynamics. Currently working for a leading Canadian non-profit that supports child welfare all across Canada, Tanya is enjoying her new life in Canada and also pursuing what she loves doing best- helping people in need and most of all helping to make a difference in the lives of those who need it the most. Her proudest moments have been when she is recognized for the hard work by the people she serves, such as the refugees she helped resettle in Australia who told her that they would never forget her and the kindness she showed them.
