SYDNEY, NSW, AUSTRALIA, January 24, 2013 /Stanford Who’s Who/ -- An accomplished independent artist with well over two decades of diverse experience, Yolanta Desjardins has enjoyed a successful career as a painter filled with several significant accomplishments thus far. Throughout her career, Yolanta has consistently demonstrated the passion, vision, dedication and diligence in this elite field of endeavour which she loves.
Drawing a great deal of her inspiration from the Golden Age of Painting of the Baroque period as well as European and American Impressionism, and the Heidleberg school in Australian art, Yolanta specializes in the creation of realistic portrait paintings of a variety of subjects, young and old. She also enjoys painting still lifes, and landscapes. Yolanta’s paintings capture the essence of the moment, allowing her subjects to appreciate specific points in life that create memories which last a lifetime.
Although she has gathered a considerable amount of her expertise through her personal studies and professional experience as well as her natural artistic abilities, Yolanta also established an academic background in the arts studying at the New Orleans Academy of Fine Arts from 1986-1990 under the great master Auseklis Ozols of whom she says “knows more about fine art than any man alive today”. From there she moved to Australia and has lived and worked in Canberra, Melbourne, and Sydney, where she studied portraiture with Yve Close for four years and currently resides in Sydney and Antigonish Nova Scotia.
Over the course of her career, Yolanta has had her work displayed in numerous exhibitions in Australia. She has been displayed on multiple occasions at the Balmain Watch House, NSW Parliament House and recently Parliament House in Canberra. Yolanta was also part of the Royal Art Society of New South Wales’ “Quintessential Views” Exhibition and was published in the April-June 2001 issue of Australian Art Collector. Additionally, she received high commendations at the Mosman Art Show in 1990 and published an article in the September 2004 issue of Balmain Sinfonia’s Noteworthy newsletter and The Artists Book Portrait Artists Australia – Ten Years 2011.
Further demonstrating her professional proficiency in the arts, Yolanta is an Exhibiting Member of the Royal Art Society of New South Wales, Portrait Artists Australia, and the Drummoyne Art Society. She has also had her work included in an art exhibition at the Dunmore Lang College of Macquarie University. Recently the National Library of Australia purchased two of Yolanta’s paintings.
Among the highlights of her career, painting A.D. Hope 1992 from life, Don Burke 2007 of Burke’s Backyard Magazine and TV series, both purchased by the National Library of Australia, Andrew Tink, Member of NSW Parliament, Dr. Kenneth Atkinson (surgeon who saved her life), Dr. John MacPherson, Knight of Malta in Rome and Halifax Nova Scotia 2005 and Peter Skryznecki 2011 author and poet purchased for St Patrick’s College Strathfield.
